JOB FUNCTIONS
The Faculty Member is primarily responsible for classroom management and the delivery of instruction to students. He /she is also responsible for developing and implementing co- and extra- curricular activities designed to supplement learning processes and holistic development of the students. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The position holder shall undertake the following functions:
1. Performs job functions consistent with the Institution’s vision and mission statements, core values, and the charism of Saint Marie Rivier and The Sisters of the Presentation of Mary; ensures that students similarly espouse and operationalize the vision, mission, and values of the school.
2. Assists the Principal and the Subject Area Coordinator in the preparation, revision, or update of the curriculum and undertakes the preparation of the complementary course syllabi.
3. Plans and develops learning objectives and appropriate learning experiences for the students of the classes being handled.
4. Participates in the preparation / selection of instructional materials, instructional guides and tools, and recommends textbooks and related learning resources for use by the students.
5. Participates in the development of assessment and evaluation procedures and instruments to assess students’ performance and progress in relation to learning objectives.
6. Prepares / revises, encodes and submits lesson plans for approval by the Subject Area Coordinator to ensure a methodical development and presentation of the subject.
7. Discusses and explains course requirements and grading standards to students and their parents.
8. Implements learning activities as reflected in the lesson plans; undertakes classroom management and delivery of instructions through creative and innovative teaching characterized by state-of-the-art concepts and technologies, proctoring, mentoring, and advising following the prescribed syllabus; undertakes adaptation to the needs, concerns, and capabilities of individual students.
9. Diagnoses the needs and monitors the progress of students through customized or standardized tests like diagnostic, achievement, or pre- and post-tests, etc.
10. Prepares table of specifications to generate test questions and contributes to test item bank to generate departmental tests applicable to a particular subject for a grade / year level, observes principles of tests and measurements in so doing.
11. Checks and keeps records of attendance, notebooks, evaluative examinations, projects, assignments, journals, portfolios, etc. of students and assigns grades to their academic performance and outputs; provides regular feedback on performance as reflected in grades for academic outputs to students and their parents.
12. Undertakes coordination with academic and administrative officers and staff on the development, implementation, and evaluation of co- and extra-curricular activities and related learning activities.
13. Participates in group assessment of students’ academic and behavioral performance done quarterly and evaluation at the end of the school term; participates in deliberations to assess and evaluate students in the areas of academic honors and special awards.
14. Ensures the safety, discipline, proper decorum and behavior of students inside the classroom, within the campus, and during official activities done outside the Institutional premises; accompanies and supervises students during activities undertaken outside the school.
15. Undertakes consultation and advising to discuss academic and/or personal problems and concerns of students / pupils with the individual students / pupils themselves, their parents, school administrators, or other faculty members; refers students / pupils to the discipline, guidance, or campus ministry office as may be necessary; attends case conferences to determine remedial or develop- mental interventions for concerned students.
16. Provides intervention measures such as enhancement / enrichment, remediation, re-teaching, re-testing and related approaches for identified student beneficiaries.
17. Serves as class adviser, club moderator, or student organization adviser when designated; Handles coaching / training for students participating in external scholastic, sports, performing arts, and socio-cultural competitions and activities as designated.
18. Attends to parents’ inquiries and complaints and addresses such in conformity with limits of authority or refers to officers who are authorized to address such concerns.
19. Participates actively in programs, projects, and activities of the Parent Teacher Association to establish collaborative efforts directed at the students’ holistic development.
20. Serves as substitute for absent colleagues or undertakes special classes as may be directed by the immediate superior.
21. Prepares and submits timely, accurate, and comprehensive academic and administrative reports as prescribed and required by the immediate superior and other school administrators.
22. Participates in the conduct of scholarly researches in consonance with the thrusts of the Institution; guides students as they undertake productive scholarly research projects applicable to their level.
23. Organizes, implements, and/ or participates in community engagement activities / social action programs involving the students to complement the academic programs.
24. Ensures safety, security, cleanliness, and orderliness of respective classrooms and immediate premises.
25. Consolidates work outputs, results, and accomplishments into monthly and annual performance reports and submits these as well as all other required reports to the superiors in the organization.
26. Attends internal and external institutional activities such as spiritual formation, retreats and recollections, committee meetings, general assemblies, conventions, convocations, programs, briefings, and special activities.
27. Attends training programs and learning sessions for the enhancement of professional, technical, and personal proficiencies.
